Best job change tracking tools (2026): what we use, and the test we run before trusting one

Job change tracking tools watch a list of people, usually your past buyers, users, and champions, and tell you when one of them starts at a new company. A champion who bought from you once and just landed somewhere new is the warmest cold account you will ever get. This is the narrowest and highest-converting slice of buying signals, so it gets its own page.

Below is how OneGTM tracks job changes, the dedicated champion tracking platforms, and the data APIs you can build on, with what each vendor publishes about price. One warning up front: most of these tools read the same stale source, and we have tested two that missed every recent leaver we gave them. The section on testing a vendor shows how to check before you buy volume.

Key takeaways

  • Dedicated platforms (UserGems, Champify) start around $500 a month and run to $40,000 a year and up.
  • Clay includes job change signals from its Launch plan; Unify charges per tracked champion.
  • Most job change data comes from the LinkedIn current-company field, which lags weeks or months behind a real move.
  • We tested two providers against six people who told us in writing they had left. Both said all six were still in their old jobs.
  • Your own email auto-replies are the most precise departure signal you have, and they cost nothing.

How OneGTM tracks job changes

We keep the champion list in the CRM, re-check it on a schedule through Deepline and Apify, and mine every auto-reply that says someone has left. We tested LeadMagic's detector and stopped using it for this job. It stays in our stack for email and company data, so it is listed here with the result.

Deepline

OneGTM uses this

GTM data platform that runs scheduled plays and monitors across dozens of data providers. We point a play at the past-buyer list, re-enrich it across providers, and only act when two sources agree on a new employer. Monitors bill only when they return the result you defined.

Best for: Owning champion tracking as code across several providers

Pricing: Pay as you go at $0.10 per credit with no platform fee.

Apify

OneGTM uses this

Scraping platform with LinkedIn profile actors that return full work history, including start and end dates for each role. Re-scraping your champions every month and diffing the current role catches anyone who has updated their profile.

Best for: Cheap monthly re-scrapes of a few thousand champions

Pricing: Free plan with $5 of usage a month; Starter $19/month, Scale $199/month, Business $999/month, each including the same amount in usage. 10% off billed annually.

LeadMagic

OneGTM uses this

Enrichment API with a Job Change Detector endpoint that takes a LinkedIn URL and a company and reports whether the person is still there. In our test against six confirmed leavers it reported no change on all six, so we use LeadMagic for emails and company data and not for this.

Best for: Bulk checks where a miss is cheap

Pricing: Essential $99/month for 5,000 credits; Growth $249/month for 20,000; Professional $499/month; Ultimate $849/month. Two months free billed annually. Job Change Detector is 3 credits per request.

Champion tracking platforms

These sync with your CRM, pull out past buyers and users automatically, and alert reps or start sequences when someone moves. They cost more than the APIs, and you pay for the workflow around the data.

UserGems

The original champion tracking platform. Tracks past buyers and users as they change jobs, finds new hires at target accounts, and runs automated campaigns and AI research on top. A retroactive job change backfill is sold as an add-on.

Best for: Mid-market and enterprise teams with a large closed-won base

Pricing: Core $40,000/year, Advanced $75,000/year, Elite $150,000/year, plus a one-time implementation fee of $3,000 to $10,000. Retroactive job change leads $3,000 one-time.

Champify

Champion tracking that monitors contacts in your CRM for job changes, adds relationship tracking and new executive hires, and cleans CRM records of people who have left.

Best for: Teams that want champion tracking without an enterprise contract

Pricing: Lite from $500/month, Pro from $2,500/month, Enterprise from $5,000/month, priced by contacts and accounts monitored.

Common Room

Signal platform that combines community, product, web, and social activity with job change tracking, then routes the person and account to the right rep.

Best for: Product-led companies with community and usage data

Pricing: Essential $2,500/month billed annually. Advanced and Enterprise custom.

Unify

Signal-based outbound platform with champion tracking: define champions with CRM filters, Unify checks them monthly, and job changes feed audiences, sequences, and Slack alerts. Old records of people who moved are dropped from sequences automatically.

Best for: Teams that want job changes to start sequences in the same tool

Pricing: Free for up to 3 seats. Base $20/seat/month with 800 credits; Pro $60/seat/month with 2,400 credits; Business custom. Champion tracking bills per tracked champion, 1 credit per contact per month per Unify.

Data APIs and build-your-own options

If you have someone who can write a scheduled job, these give you the raw employment data and leave the logic to you. Cheaper per contact, more work to run.

Crustdata

People and company data API with a Watcher API that alerts on changes to people or companies you follow, sold for champion tracking. It is the next vendor on our list to run against our leaver test.

Best for: Engineers who want push alerts on a watched list

Pricing: Credit-based. New accounts get $20 in free credits. Watchers from 0.5 credits per new result; people enrichment from 1 credit. Real-time API and Enterprise plans start at four figures a month.

Clay

OneGTM has used this

Spreadsheet-style enrichment tool with a built-in job change signal that watches a table of contacts and flags new employers, which you can chain into enrichment and a sequencer.

Best for: Teams already building lists in Clay

Pricing: Free plan without signals. Launch $167/month billed annually ($185 monthly) includes job change signals. Growth $446/month billed annually ($495 monthly). Enterprise custom.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator

Save past buyers as leads and Sales Navigator alerts you when they change jobs. It reads the same profile field as everyone else, but it is the cheapest way for a single rep to watch a short list.

Best for: One rep watching a few hundred champions

Pricing: Core $119.99/month or $1,079.88/year; Advanced $159.99/month or $1,799.88/year; Advanced Plus custom.

Coresignal

Employee and company datasets with full experience history, sold by API credit or as bulk files. Pull fresh records for your champion list and compare against what your CRM says.

Best for: Data teams diffing employment history at scale

Pricing: Free tier; Mini $49/month for 2,500 credits up to Elite $5,000/month for 10,000,000. A full employee record is 20 credits. Datasets from $1,000.

Prices are from each vendor's site as of October 2026 and change often, so check before you buy. This is an opinionated list, not a paid ranking. Some links are referral links that may earn us a credit; that never changes what you pay or who makes the list.

Why job change data lags

Almost every job change product resolves a person against the current-company field on their LinkedIn profile. People update that field late. Founders and partners often never remove the old company at all. So the alert fires weeks or months after the move, and some moves never show up.

We saw this first-hand. On one outbound list, about a quarter of the people we had emailed turned out to have left their company. We ran LeadMagic's Job Change Detector against six people who had told us in writing that they were gone, four through their employer's auto-reply and two in their own words. It said all six were still in place. A second provider's email lookup returned the old work address for the same people and marked it found. Both were faithfully reporting a profile the person had not updated.

Email validation does not catch it either. Every one of those mailboxes was alive and answering with an auto-reply.

How to test a job change vendor before you buy

Every vendor will show you a demo full of correct alerts. Make them run your list instead, and include people you already know have moved.

  • Collect 5 to 10 people you know left in the last 90 days: auto-replies that say "no longer with", bounced champions, people who told you.
  • Run them through the vendor before you sign. Count how many it flags, and how many days after the real move.
  • Ask where the data comes from. Anything that only reads LinkedIn will share the same lag.
  • Keep the list as a standing regression set and rerun it on every new vendor.
  • Check what you pay for: per tracked contact per month, per alert, or a flat platform fee. A big list on per-contact pricing adds up fast.

What to do when a champion moves

A job change is two signals. The new company is a warm account, and the old company just lost the person who knew you. Work both. On the new side, wait two to four weeks so they have a desk and a plan, then write like someone they already know. On the old side, find who took over the role before a competitor does.

Read your auto-replies too. A departure notice often names the successor and their email. That is a named contact at an account that already knows you, handed over by the account itself. Route these through your lead routing like any other warm lead, and suppress the old address so you stop mailing someone who is gone.

  • Tag past buyers, power users, and closed-lost champions in the CRM so the tracker has a clean list.
  • Send the new-company alert to the rep who owned the original relationship.
  • Reference the shared history in the first line. Do not pitch from scratch.
  • Re-thread the old account to the successor named in the auto-reply.
  • Blocklist confirmed leavers at the workspace level so the next list build cannot re-add them.

When to get help with champion tracking

The tool is the easy part. The work is a clean champion list in the CRM, a check that catches moves before a stale profile does, and plays that reach the new company and the old one within days.

OneGTM builds champion tracking on Deepline, Apify, and your CRM, wires in the auto-reply mining, and pushes moves into Instantly or HeyReach. You own the data and the workflows.

  • You suspect a large share of your list has already left their jobs.
  • You are weighing UserGems or Champify and want to test them on your own leavers first.
  • Champion alerts fire but nobody acts on them.
  • You want job changes to trigger outbound without a rep in the loop.

Job change tracking FAQ

What are the best job change tracking tools?
UserGems and Champify are the dedicated champion tracking platforms, Common Room and Unify include job changes inside broader signal products, and Clay has a job change signal from its Launch plan. OneGTM builds its own with Deepline and Apify on top of the CRM, because the off-the-shelf detectors we tested missed recent leavers.
How accurate is job change data?
Less accurate than vendors suggest for recent moves. Most products read the LinkedIn current-company field, which people update weeks or months late. In our own test, LeadMagic and a second provider reported zero of six confirmed leavers as having moved.
How much do job change tracking tools cost?
Champify starts at $500 a month, Common Room at $2,500 a month billed annually, and UserGems at $40,000 a year plus implementation. Clay includes job change signals from $167 a month billed annually, and LeadMagic charges 3 credits per check. Unify bills per tracked champion each month.
What is champion tracking?
Champion tracking means watching the people who bought or championed your product and acting when they join a new company. UserGems, Champify, and Unify all sell it. The new company becomes a warm account, and the old one needs a new contact.
Can I track job changes for free?
Partly. Mining your email auto-replies for "no longer with" messages is free and fully precise for the people it catches. Apify's free plan covers small profile re-scrapes, and Sales Navigator alerts cover a short list for one rep at $119.99 a month.
How soon should I reach out after a champion changes jobs?
Two to four weeks after the move is a good window. They have settled in and are building a plan, but have not yet locked in vendors. Reach out to the successor at the old company right away.
Is job change tracking the same as a buying signal tool?
It is one kind of buying signal. Tools like Unify, Common Room, and Deepline track job changes alongside hiring, funding, and web visits, while UserGems and Champify focus on job changes. Our buying signal tools page covers the wider category.
