Best AI SDR tools (2026): what they cost, where they fail, and when to build your own

AI SDR tools are software agents that find prospects, research them, write and send outreach, and handle replies with little or no rep involvement. Some run outbound on their own (11x, Artisan, AiSDR, Valley, Topo), some add an AI layer to a sales platform you may already use (Unify, Apollo, Amplemarket, Reply.io), and some answer inbound visitors on your website (Qualified).

We list each vendor with what it publishes about price, checked on the vendors' own sites. Disclosure: Garrett Wolfe, who runs OneGTM, was an early GTM engineer at Unify, one of the tools below. OneGTM does not run a packaged AI SDR for clients. We build outbound with Claude Code, Deepline, Instantly and HeyReach, and a person approves what goes out. Some links are referral links that may earn us a credit, which never changes what you pay or who is listed.

Key takeaways

  • Autonomous AI SDRs (11x, Artisan) are sold on demos and custom quotes. AiSDR, Valley and Topo publish prices.
  • Platform AI (Apollo, Unify, Reply.io, Amplemarket) is cheaper to try if your team already prospects in one of them.
  • Inbound AI SDRs like Qualified's Piper work on people already on your site, which is a much easier job than cold outbound.
  • Most AI SDR failures trace back to a weak list, burned domains, or copy that reads like every other AI email.
  • If you have someone technical, a Claude Code build on your own data and sending stack gives you more control for less.

Build your own: what OneGTM uses

We do not resell an AI SDR. For clients we build the same loop in code: Claude Code writes and runs the research, scoring, and drafting scripts, Deepline pulls and enriches the data, and Instantly and HeyReach send email and LinkedIn from infrastructure the client owns. The copy gets a human review before it ships. More on the approach in Claude Code for GTM.

Claude Code

OneGTM uses this

Anthropic's coding agent. We use it to build list logic, account research, ICP scoring, and per-prospect drafts as scripts the client keeps, instead of a black box that writes on its own.

Best for: Teams that want an AI SDR they can read and change

Pricing: Included in Claude Pro ($20/month, or $17/month billed annually) and Max from $100/month.

Deepline

OneGTM uses this

Enrichment and signal platform with waterfalls across many data providers, run from the CLI or from Claude Code. It replaces the built-in database most AI SDRs ship with.

Best for: The list and signal layer under a custom build

Pricing: Pay as you go with no platform fee, at $0.10 per credit.

Instantly

OneGTM uses this

Cold email sender with unlimited mailboxes, warmup, and an API that Claude Code can push campaigns and leads into.

Best for: The email sending layer

Pricing: Growth $47/month ($37.60/month billed annually); Hypergrowth $97/month ($77.60 billed annually); Light Speed $358/month. Enterprise custom.

HeyReach

OneGTM uses this

LinkedIn outreach across many sender accounts with one inbox, an API, and an MCP server, so LinkedIn steps can run from the same build as email.

Best for: The LinkedIn sending layer

Pricing: Growth $79 per sender per month (less on quarterly or yearly billing); Agency $999/month; Unlimited $2,999/month. Free trial.

Clay

OneGTM has used this

Spreadsheet-style enrichment with Claygent, an AI agent that researches each row on the web. Many teams build a homegrown AI SDR as a Clay table that feeds a sequencer.

Best for: No-code research and personalization at scale

Pricing: Free plan with Claygent included. Launch starts at $54/month on annual billing ($167/month list); Growth and Enterprise higher. Priced by actions and data credits.

Autonomous AI SDRs

These are sold as a digital worker: you describe the ICP and offer, and the agent finds leads, writes, sends, follows up, and books meetings. The big names quote on a call. Ask who owns the sending domains and how much you can review before anything goes out.

11x (Alice)

Alice runs outbound plays such as lead reactivation, closed-lost, website visitor follow-up, and competitive takeouts across email, LinkedIn and more. Julian, its sibling agent, handles inbound speed to lead.

Best for: Larger teams that want a managed, vendor-run AI SDR

Pricing: Pricing is not published; book a demo.

Artisan (Ava)

Ava, the AI BDR, writes and sends outreach in your reps' names from your domains, handles replies, and books meetings. Every plan includes a 250M+ contact database, CRM sync, and CSM onboarding. You can require approval before sending.

Best for: Teams that want an AI BDR with a service team attached

Pricing: Custom pricing. Team (about 2,500 leads a month), Scale (about 6,000), and Enterprise are scoped with sales.

AiSDR

Self-serve AI SDR with a 2B+ profile database, waterfall enrichment, email and LinkedIn sequences, mailbox setup, and AI reply handling. You pay per person reached.

Best for: Testing an AI SDR without a contract

Pricing: Pay as you go at $1.50 per person prospected, no monthly fee. Team plans for 1,000+ contacts a month priced on volume. Warmed mailboxes $33 each; fully managed service $2,500/month.

Valley

LinkedIn-first AI SDR that prospects, qualifies, researches, and sends personalized LinkedIn messages in your voice, with email on higher plans.

Best for: Founders and sellers whose buyers live on LinkedIn

Pricing: Starter (LinkedIn only) $199/seat/month, or $149 billed quarterly; Plus $299 and Growth $499 per seat per month add email. Done-for-you Valley Studios $1,499/month. 7-day trial.

Topo

AI sales platform that watches for signals, then runs email and LinkedIn sequences with a unified inbox, lead routing, and HubSpot and Pipedrive sync.

Best for: Small teams that want signal-triggered outbound in one tool

Pricing: Solo $89 per seat per month (up to 2 seats); Team $129 per seat per month (from 3 seats); Enterprise custom. Free trial.

AI SDR features inside sales platforms

If your team already prospects in one of these, turning on the AI agent costs less and risks less than buying a separate AI SDR. The data, sequencer, and inbox are already in place. Persana, a credit-based AI prospecting tool, also sits in this group; it has announced it is joining Rox.

Unify

Signal-based outbound platform with 40+ data sources, AI email copywriting, agents, multichannel sequences, and a dialer. Website intent and signal-triggered automations sit on the Business plan. Disclosure: Garrett was an early GTM engineer at Unify.

Best for: Signal-triggered outbound with a human in the loop

Pricing: Free for up to 3 seats. Base $20/seat/month; Pro $60/seat/month with a 14-day trial; Business custom, billed annually.

Amplemarket (Duo)

Sales platform with its own data, multichannel sequences, and deliverability tools. Duo is the AI copilot that surfaces signals, researches, and drafts outreach for reps to approve.

Best for: Teams that want data, sequences and an AI copilot from one vendor

Pricing: Startup $600/month on an annual term with 2 users; Growth and Elite custom. Duo Copilot listed on all plans.

Apollo

Contact database, sequencer and dialer with an AI assistant that researches accounts, builds lists, and writes sequences. The cheapest way to try AI outbound if you already use Apollo data.

Best for: Small teams that want data and AI outreach on a budget

Pricing: Free plan; Basic $49, Professional $79, Organization $119 (3-seat minimum) per seat per month, billed annually.

Jason AI by Reply.io

Reply.io's AI SDR. Jason searches contacts, watches intent signals, writes personalized emails, and answers replies around the clock inside Reply's multichannel sequencer.

Best for: Reply.io users who want an autonomous mode

Pricing: Jason AI SDR from $500/month. Reply.io email plans from $49 per user per month billed annually; Multichannel from $89.

Regie.ai

Prospecting platform with prompt-driven AI agents, personalized messaging, a parallel power dialer, and channel orchestration across calls and email.

Best for: Teams that pair AI email with heavy calling

Pricing: Free with 250 one-time credits; Pro $49/month ($41 billed annually); Team $150/seat/month ($125 billed annually), 2-seat minimum; Enterprise custom.

Inbound AI SDRs

Inbound agents talk to people who came to you: website visitors, form fills, and trial signups. The buyer already raised a hand, so the risk of annoying a cold market is low. This is usually the safest first AI SDR to deploy.

Qualified (Piper)

Piper is Qualified's AI SDR for the website. It greets and qualifies visitors in chat, books meetings with the right rep, and follows up by email with known contacts. Built for Salesforce and HubSpot shops.

Best for: B2B sites with real traffic and a sales team to route to

Pricing: Custom pricing. Premier, Enterprise and Ultimate plans are set by monthly web sessions and active email contacts; contact sales.

Prices are from each vendor's site as of October 2026 and change often, so check before you buy. This is an opinionated list, not a paid ranking. Some links are referral links that may earn us a credit; that never changes what you pay or who makes the list.

Where AI SDRs fail

Most teams that cancel an AI SDR after a quarter hit the same problems. The model was rarely the issue. The agent was pointed at a bad list, sent from shared or fresh domains too fast, and wrote copy every prospect had already seen that week.

The list is the first failure. An AI SDR prospects from its vendor's database, so you get the same contacts your competitors' agents are emailing, with job changes and bounces mixed in. Personalization built on a stale title or a scraped LinkedIn headline reads worse than no personalization.

Deliverability is the second. Autonomous tools push volume, and volume from new domains lands in spam. Once your domains are flagged, your human reps' emails suffer too. See cold email infrastructure for how we set up sending.

Generic copy is the third. Buyers now recognize the pattern: a compliment about a recent post, a guess at a pain, a soft ask. Without a real reason to reach out, such as a buying signal or a specific offer, reply rates fall toward zero no matter how many emails go out.

  • Bring your own list, or at least audit the vendor's list against your ICP before launch.
  • Send from domains and mailboxes you own, warmed and capped per mailbox.
  • Turn on approval before send for the first few weeks and read what the agent writes.
  • Give the agent a signal and an offer for each segment. A persona alone gives it nothing to say.
  • Judge it on positive replies and meetings held, not emails sent.

When to build your own

Buy an AI SDR when you have no one technical, a clear ICP, and a market large enough that some wasted sends do not matter. Turn on the AI in your existing platform first if you already use Apollo, Unify, Reply.io or Amplemarket.

Build your own when the list is the hard part, when your buyers are a small and specific group, or when you want to own the logic. With Claude Code, the research prompts, scoring rules and copy templates live in files you can read and change. Enrichment runs through Deepline with the providers you choose, and sending runs through Instantly and HeyReach on your own domains and LinkedIn accounts. When something underperforms, you can see why.

This is how OneGTM worked with Coastal Recruiting, where recruiter-accepted candidate intros grew 4.7x in four months. See the Coastal Recruiting case study.

How to evaluate an AI SDR before you sign

Run a paid pilot on one segment with a fixed number of contacts and agree on the metric before it starts. Ask each vendor the same questions so the answers are comparable.

  • Where does the contact data come from, and can I upload my own list?
  • Whose domains and mailboxes send the email, and who owns them if we cancel?
  • Can I approve messages before they send, per campaign or per message?
  • How does it handle replies it is unsure about, and when does a human get pulled in?
  • What does the contract term look like, and is there a pilot or monthly option?
  • Can I export everything, including prompts, sequences and reply history?

When to get help

If you already bought an AI SDR and replies are flat, the fix is usually upstream: the list, the sending setup, or the offer. If you have not bought one yet, a custom build may cost less and fit your market better.

OneGTM builds outbound with Claude Code, Deepline, Instantly and HeyReach, on data and infrastructure you own. Garrett does the work himself, and the code and campaigns stay with you.

  • Your AI SDR is sending a lot and booking little.
  • Your domains landed in spam after an AI SDR pilot.
  • You want signal-based outbound without a long vendor contract.
  • You are comparing 11x or Artisan against a custom build and want a second opinion.

AI SDR tools FAQ

What are the best AI SDR tools in 2026?
For fully autonomous outbound, 11x (Alice) and Artisan (Ava) are the best-known, with AiSDR, Valley and Topo as cheaper self-serve options. If you already use a sales platform, the AI agents in Apollo, Unify, Reply.io (Jason AI) and Amplemarket (Duo) are easier to start with. For inbound, Qualified's Piper is the standard pick. Teams with technical help can build their own with Claude Code, Deepline, Instantly and HeyReach, which is what OneGTM uses.
How much does an AI SDR cost?
It ranges widely. AiSDR charges $1.50 per person reached with no monthly fee, Topo starts at $89 per seat per month, Valley at $199 per seat per month, and Reply.io's Jason AI from $500 per month. 11x, Artisan and Qualified do not publish prices and quote on a sales call. Platform options are cheaper: Unify has a free plan and Apollo starts at $49 per seat per month billed annually.
Do AI SDRs actually work?
They work when the list is accurate, the sending domains are healthy, and each message has a real reason to reach out. Most failures come from vendor databases full of stale contacts, high-volume sending from new domains that lands in spam, and generic AI copy buyers now ignore. Inbound AI SDRs, which talk to people already on your website, work more reliably than cold outbound agents.
Can an AI SDR replace a human SDR?
For research, list building, first drafts and follow-ups, mostly yes. For judging which accounts matter, handling nuanced replies, and running live conversations, a person still does better. The setup that tends to work is AI doing the research and drafting while a rep approves what goes out and takes the calls.
What is the difference between an AI SDR and a sales engagement platform?
A sales engagement platform such as Apollo, Reply.io or Instantly sends sequences that a person builds. An AI SDR such as 11x or Artisan picks the prospects, writes the messages, sends them and answers replies on its own. Most engagement platforms now include an AI agent mode, so the line is blurring.
Should I buy AI SDR tools or build my own?
Buy if you have no one technical and a broad market where some wasted sends are acceptable. Build if your ICP is narrow, your list needs custom research, or you want to own the logic and the sending infrastructure. A Claude Code build with Deepline for data and Instantly and HeyReach for sending often costs less than an autonomous AI SDR contract and is easier to fix when results drop.
Will an AI SDR hurt my email deliverability?
It can. Autonomous tools send at high volume, and volume from new or shared domains is the fastest way into spam folders. Send from secondary domains you own, warm every mailbox, cap daily sends per mailbox, and verify emails before they go out. If an AI SDR pilot already flagged your domains, pause it before your reps' own emails start landing in spam.
