Best email verification tools (2026): including the ones that handle catch-alls

An email verifier checks whether an address will accept mail before you send to it. For cold email this is the cheapest deliverability protection you can buy: bounces tell mailbox providers your list is bad, and a bounce rate above a couple of percent starts to hurt your domains.

Most verifiers handle the easy cases well. Where they differ is catch-all domains, which a standard check can't resolve and which make up a big share of most B2B lists. Below is what I run for clients, then the catch-all specialists, then the bulk verifiers. Prices come from each vendor's site as of October 15, 2026.

Key takeaways

  • Verify every address before it reaches a sequencer, including emails your finder already called verified.
  • Catch-all domains are the hard part. Standard verifiers return them as unknown or risky.
  • Catch-all specialists like BounceBan and Allegrow cost more per check, so run them only on the catch-all results.
  • Our default is LeadMagic validation, with a catch-all pass routed through Deepline.

The verification setup OneGTM uses

Every email gets validated before it's sent. Results that come back catch-all get a second pass through a specialist.

Deepline

What catch-all domains are, and why they matter

A standard verifier connects to the recipient's mail server and asks whether a mailbox exists, without sending anything. Most servers answer honestly. A catch-all server says yes to every address, real or not, so the check can't tell jane@company.com from xyz123@company.com.

Catch-all setups are common at B2B companies, especially ones behind security gateways, and a big share of a typical outbound list can land in this bucket. Standard verifiers mark these as unknown or risky. That leaves two bad options: send to them all and take the bounces, or drop them all and lose a lot of good contacts.

Catch-all specialists like BounceBan, Allegrow, and Scrubby use extra signals to sort those addresses into valid and invalid. They cost more per check, so the usual setup is a cheap standard pass on everything, then a specialist on the catch-all results only.

How to choose an email verifier

  • Catch-all handling. Ask what the tool returns for catch-alls and test it on a batch you've already sent to, where you know which ones bounced.
  • What you're charged for. Several tools refund unknowns and duplicates. That adds up on messy lists.
  • Credit expiry. Some packs never expire; NeverBounce's expire after 12 months.
  • Where it runs. For outbound, pick something with an API you can call between your finder and your sequencer. For forms, real-time speed matters more.

How OneGTM runs verification

Every address gets validated right before it's loaded into a campaign, even if the finder said it was verified, because data ages. Invalid is dropped, valid goes through, and catch-all goes to a specialist pass. Anything still unresolved either gets held or goes into a small, separately monitored send so it can't drag down the main domains. See the email deliverability checker for the domain side.

When it makes sense to get help

Verifiers are cheap. The work is wiring them in between finding and sending so nothing skips the check, and deciding what to do with catch-alls for your market.

  • Your bounce rate is above 2% even though you verify.
  • You're throwing away every catch-all and running out of contacts.
  • Verification is a manual CSV step that sometimes gets skipped.
  • Domains keep landing in spam and nobody knows whether the list is the cause.

Email verification FAQ

What is the best email verification tool?
For easy cases most verifiers perform similarly, so price and workflow matter more. The real difference is catch-all handling. A common setup is a cheap bulk verifier or LeadMagic validation on everything, then a catch-all specialist like BounceBan or Allegrow on the catch-all results.
What is a catch-all email?
An address on a domain whose mail server accepts mail for any address. Standard verifiers can't tell whether the specific mailbox exists, so they return catch-all, unknown, or risky. Catch-all specialists use other signals to sort these into valid and invalid.
Should I send to catch-all emails?
Not blindly. Run them through a catch-all verifier first and send only to the ones it marks valid. If you still have unresolved addresses, send them in small batches from separate inboxes and watch the bounce rate.
Do I need to verify emails my finder already verified?
Yes, if there's any delay before sending. People leave jobs and mailboxes close, so data starts going stale quickly. Verify right before the send, and re-verify any list older than a month or so.
What bounce rate is acceptable for cold email?
Aim to stay under 2%. Above that, mailbox providers start to treat your domain as a sender with a poor list, and inbox placement drops for everything you send.
How much does email verification cost?
Bulk verification runs from under $0.001 to about $0.008 per address depending on volume and vendor. Catch-all specialists cost more per check. Prices on this page come from each vendor's site as of October 2026.
