# Zapier vs Make (2026): which no-code automation tool should you pick?

Pick Zapier if you want the easiest builder and the widest app catalog and will pay more per action for it; pick Make if you want branching, looping scenarios on a visual canvas at a much lower price per action. Both are no-code and cloud only, so this is mostly a trade between simplicity and cost.

Disclosure: most automations I build for OneGTM and clients are code written with Claude Code, with Deepline for data calls, Supabase for storage and GitHub Actions for schedules, so neither tool runs my own pipeline. This page uses each vendor's pricing page as of November 2026, works through costs at real volumes, and says when each tool still beats code.

## Zapier vs Make pricing compared

Make is cheaper at almost every volume. A five-step workflow running 2,000 times a month is about 10,000 actions. On Zapier that lands on the 10,000-task Pro tier at $129 a month billed annually ($193.50 monthly); on Make it fits the 10,000-credit Core plan at $9 a month annually ($10.59 monthly). Make's rate is $0.90 per 1,000 credits on Core annual billing, against roughly $13 per 1,000 tasks on that Zapier tier.

Zapier earns some of the premium back through ease of use, the larger catalog and bundled products like Tables (100,000 records on Pro) and Forms. It also lets you keep running past your limit with pay-per-task overage, billed at 1.25x the base rate on annual plans. Make stops scenarios when credits run out unless you buy extra credits or turn on auto-purchase.

- Zapier Free: 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps, 15-minute polling.
- Zapier Pro: $19.99 a month annually ($29.99 monthly) for 750 tasks; $49 ($73.50) for 2,000; $129 ($193.50) for 10,000.
- Zapier Team: $69 a month annually ($103.50 monthly) for 2,000 tasks with 25 seats and SAML SSO.
- Make Free: 1,000 credits a month, 15-minute minimum interval.
- Make Core, Pro, Teams at 10,000 credits: $9, $16, $29 a month annually ($10.59, $18.82, $34.12 monthly).
- Enterprise on both: custom pricing through sales.

## Features compared

Zapier is built so that anyone can ship a working automation in minutes. Make assumes you will spend a bit longer on the canvas in exchange for more control over branches, loops and errors.

- Ease of use: Zapier's step list and Copilot are the fastest way for a non-technical person to build; Make's canvas takes longer to learn but shows the whole flow at once.
- Branching: Make's routers are free in credits and handle many branches cleanly; Zapier uses Paths, available on Pro and up.
- Loops and arrays: Make's iterators and aggregators process lists well; in Zapier every action inside a loop consumes tasks.
- App coverage: Zapier's 10,415+ apps cover more niche SaaS tools than Make's 3,500+.
- AI: Zapier offers AI by Zapier steps on Pro and up, plus Agents and Chatbots; Make offers AI through its AI Provider, which can cost more than 1 credit per action.
- Error handling: Make has rollback, break, resume and ignore handlers at no credit cost; Zapier keeps its observability API and log streams to Enterprise.
- Governance: Zapier Team adds SAML SSO and audit logs; Make keeps advanced security to Enterprise.

## Who should pick Zapier

- The builders have no technical background and need to move fast.
- You depend on a niche app only Zapier supports.
- Volume is low enough that the 750 or 2,000-task tiers cover it.
- You want Tables, Forms or Agents bundled with your automations.

## Who should pick Make

- Price per action matters and you run thousands of actions a month.
- Workflows branch or loop over lists.
- You want to see the whole scenario on one canvas.
- A small ops team wants team roles for $29 a month annually.

## The verdict

Zapier wins on simplicity and app coverage. If the people maintaining automations are not technical and volume is low, its higher price per action buys real time savings.

Make wins on cost and control. For branching, multi-step scenarios at volume it is often a tenth of Zapier's price, and the canvas makes complex flows easier to debug.

I use neither for my own pipeline. Scheduled GTM jobs for OneGTM and clients run as code I write with Claude Code, on GitHub Actions with Supabase. I still point clients to Zapier for small internal glue their team will own, and to Make when an ops person wants to manage branching flows without paying per task.
